Therapy
1. How long are sessions and how often would we meet?
Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes in length. When you first start therapy we recommend weekly sessions to make the best progress. Over time, you and your therapist can decide if you will cut down frequency or if you are ready to stop therapy because you have reached your goals.
2. Do you have evening and weekend appointments?
Yes, we do have evening and weekend appointments and will work with you on finding a time that works for you and your other commitments.
3. Do you provide couples and/or family therapy?
Yes we do. We work with couples to reach better communication and clarity on relationship issues with a goal to successful resolution on their problems. While we are not a family therapy focused clinic, we do make every effort to include the family in treatment when appropriate. If you are seeking dedicated couples or family work, you can contact us to consult further on your specific needs.
4. Do you work with all ages?
Yes, we have clinicians specialized with both children and adults. We can see children ages 6 and up. Openings for school age children are limited and a waitlist is often possible due to high need. Please call to inquire further.
5. How long does therapy take before I feel better?
Everyone's treatment takes a different amount of time because we are all unique with many different experiences. Our clinicians individualize each client's treatment plan to meet their specific needs. In general, most therapy treatments last anywhere from 6 months for a recent event to 1 year or more. You will work this out with your therapist when you first start therapy and will revisit this periodically.
6. Do you do EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy)?
Yes, many of our clinicians are trained in EMDR and provide EMDR therapy regularly. We are a trauma focused center so all of our interventions with children and adults are based on evidenced based trauma models. All of our providers understand trauma and use various therapy techniques to help you on your healing journey.
